Say it with flowers, with love to planet Earth

Spring is a wonderful season for offering flowers and especially to mums, if your country celebrates Mothers Day in May; we've found a way to be nice to mum, and to the planet...

Cut flowers make a lovely gift. But many flowers we see in the shops get there in ways that aren't great for the environment.

They often come from thousands of kilometres away, sometimes even by plane in order to be fresh when they arrive. Some flower farms use powerful chemicals that aren't great for the people who work there, or for people who handle the bouquets.

Églantine worked as a florist, selling flowers. And she got quite upset thinking about the damage her trade was doing. She wanted to do something about it.

So she got digging. Why not grow flowers ourselves, without chemicals, just growing what grows naturally? Now Églantine runs a flower farm in eastern France. You can see her at work and hear her talk about what flowers are perfect to pick and to give right now in the WoW! News app.

It's a great, natural solution. And Églantine loves her flowers - so she should, perhaps. Do you know what an eglantine is? It's a kind of rose!
