There's a new virus in town. But there's new medicines to treat it...

COVID-19 is back in the headlines. People are getting sick, there are new rules to stop people mixing and the new word "Omicron" (the letter O in the Greek alphabet) is on everyone's lips. Some newspapers even ask "Will Christmas be cancelled?"

Well, there's no reason for us not to enjoy the holidays. And at WoW! News we want to talk about other news that shows that the virus is not winning. New vaccines have done an amazing job of protecting people from getting very ill. But that's not all the good news from the scientists.

New drugs and new ways of treating people who catch COVID are being produced. That means that even if the vaccines don't completely stop people from catching it, there's a lot more now that doctors can do to get people better quickly. One drug, molnupiravir, has just been approved in Europe.

Learn more about how thousands of doctors and scientists all around the world are cooperating to bring us more and more ways to beat COVID at our new WoW! News app!
