Have you looked closely at bees buzzing from flower to flower? They carry dusty pollen with them. That helps many plants grow, including much of the the food we eat. So we need the bees for a lot more than just honey.
And if you look at the bees buzzing from flower to flower, have you noticed that there are lots of different kinds of bee? We often think of bees flying back to their hives to make honey. But did you know that most kinds of bee don't live in hives - and don't make honey? in fact, lots of types of bee live alone, not in hives but in holes in the ground or in trees.
Lorenzo has a passion for these solo bees. He loves to sit on his balcony and take his morning coffee with them. And they never sting, he says!
Lorenzo also worried about the bees. Pollution is affecting all kinds of bee. There are fewer of them than before. A lot of people are trying to help the honey bees, helping to look after their hives - and enjoying the honey these bees make. But not so many people are helping the solo bees that don't make honey.
That's where Lorenzo comes in - and where you can help.
In this week's episode on the WoW! News app, come and meet Lorenzo and let him show you how you, too, can help the solo bees.
Like Lorenzo, you could talk about the solo bees at school. And why not get together and make some nesting boxes to give a cosy home to these lonely bees so that they can raise their babies in peace? And, of course, they'll help your local flowers thrive...
