Do you think that the news is mainly bad? It can often seem that way. That's because part of the job that journalists do is to tell us about things that are going wrong in the world, so that we can stay safe and maybe fix the problems.
As human beings, we tend to pay a lot of attention to things that might hurt us. It's a really useful habit. But it has a downside. When we hear in the news about wars or problems with the climate or diseases, we can start to think that that's ALL that's happening in the world.
If we feel that, we can feel sad or anxious. If so, we should stop reading or watching the news and do something more fun. We should also talk to our parents or teachers and let them know how we feel.
And then we can also look for other kinds of news. Because the world is full of people making it better - but often in ways that are quiet or slow and don't make it onto the news. At WoW! News, we go looking for people who are making the world better and you can find out about them in our app.
This week's capsule (which is free to try!) explains how "solutions journalism" is a way of reporting the news, where we don't stop just at explaining the problem. We go further, to talk about people who are trying to fix the problem.
That way, we see that the world isn't just full of trouble. There's also hope that we can sort it out. It shows that we all do something to help - just as we found last week when we met Sylwia and others who are helping people in Ukraine.
