You want to travel, see the world and meet people. Planes are quick, but they're not great for the planet. Jon has a solution...

Imagine if you could go to sleep in Paris and wake up 1,000 kilometres away in Berlin. Imagine, too, if getting there meant putting just a fraction of the greenhouse gas into the atmosphere than taking a plane.

Sound too good to be true? Well, strangely, it's hard to do these days but it used to be an everyday reality. And people like Jon Worth and growing numbers of ordinary travellers and families are working to take us back to the future of travel.

How's that? Well, they are enjoying - and singing the praises of - long-distance trains, and especially night trains, in Europe. Forty years ago, it was common to tuck yourself in for the night on a little bed and be up for breakfast far, far away. But our greed for speed - and cheap air travel - largely put an end to it. It's the planet that has suffered.

Now, the European Union has launched an action plan to promote long-distance international trains, including night trains, as part of efforts to curb the enormous carbon emissions from planes. Climb aboard the WoW! News app and read all about it!
